Our history

We have been cultivating vines for three generations and producing wines according to tradition.

The farm was born with grandfather Giuseppe who worked in the rural area of Mazara from the early 1900s. In 1970, his son Antonino (known as: Nenè) consolidated the land in a single body in the Gazzera district, continuing to practice viticulture as a prevalent activity.

In 2002 the reboot: Rosa Maria, Nenè‘s daughter, implanted two international vines, Syrah and Merlot, producing wines that express the frugality of the land and the elegance and historicity of the territory. With these wines we coined the brand ~Sahara~, both as a reference to our land blown by Africans winds, and as a tribute to Nana Sara, Nenè’s wife.

The last few years are characterized by continuous experimentation and refinement, always following natural methods. This path culminates in 2019, with the replanting of some local vines in a micro-area within the “Lago Preola – Gorghi Tondi” Nature Reserve. The replanted varieties are of the oldest native cultivars: Catarratto, Inzolia, Grillo, Zibibbo.

Today, through the use of natural and organic techniques, we aim to create wines that best represent the uniqueness of our territory.
